DEERFIELD BEACH CITIZEN OBSERVER PATROL
|
|
Who are the Deerfield Beach COP's? The Deerfield Beach Citizen Observer Patrol is a dedicated volunteer organization that provides assistance to the Broward Sheriff's Office deputies and the community with the goal of reducing crime and providing support to increase the safety of our citizens.
One of the many tasks of a COP is to patrol neighborhoods.
When patrolling, COPs provide a visible, friendly presence in the community and are ready to assist citizens who may need help. For instance, a stalled vehicle, a query about directions or a request for help. If a situation requires the intervention of law enforcement, then the COP will call a deputy and monitor the situation until a deputy arrives, unless otherwise directed.
Deerfield Beach COPs are your neighbors and friends. We do much more than patrol. COPs provide support during community events and work to help to improve conditions for the elderly in our community. Check our EVENTS page and TRIAD & SALT page on this website for more information.
The Deerfield Beach Citizen Observer Patrol has members who are CPR certified and have training in disaster mitigation, hurricane preparedness and other areas of emergency response. These COPs are members of our Emergency Response Team (ERT) and are called to duty in the event of a major incident or disaster. This elite group of COPs are also members of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and continuously update their training with CERT in classroom sessions and disaster drills that simulate real world disaster scenarios.
